This module explores key theories and practices of leadership and governance in arts organizations, focusing on strategic decision-making, ethical responsibility, and stakeholder collaboration. It equips students with the skills to navigate transformative challenges in the cultural sector.

  • Effective leadership in practice
  • Governance structures: boards, trustees, and advisory committees
  • Ethical leadership and cultural responsibility

  • Self-reflection as a key practice in leadership

Course structure:

The module lasts 6 weeks and is divided into 3-4 phases. During each phase, you can decide when to prepare and review the content by working through the course material and tasks. There is usually one webinar in each phase, scheduled according to the students' time zones. These are the only fixed dates. Since the course is revised before it begins, the exact dates cannot be communicated beforehand. We calculate a weekly workload of 21 hours. Of course, this may vary depending on personal circumstances. The portfolio exam must be handed in at the end of the course.
